1964 Corvette Production and Performance
| Model Year Highlights |
Exterior:
- A new one-piece rear window design is introduced replacing the split-window design.
- The left rear pillar vent was now funcational.
- The chrome hood inserts were removed for 1964 but the two indents remained in the hood making the hood unique to the 1964 model year.
- Rocker panel trim was simplified.
- As stated in Mike Antonick's "Corvette Black Book": "Starting in 1964 (through 1967) some Corvette bodies were supplied by Dow-Smith, Ionia, Michigan a division of A.O. Smith Company.
- New available color: Satin Silver
Interior:
- The instrument panel bezels changed from flat black to chrome while the recessed areas of the gauges were finished in black.
- Steering wheels changed from color-coordinated composition to a simulated walnut-grain plastic composition.
- New 3-speed fan was added to coupes for improved ventilation.
- Door release knobs were finished in chrome.
Mechanical:
- New rear transverse spring was introduced.
- New progressive rate front coil springs were introduced.
- Additional bushings in the shift linkage were added.
