Condition

A Low mileage vehicle (like PDI) May have a concern with a rough idle and misfires counting on random cylinders.

Cause

This could be caused by marshalling the vehicle around and/or short runtimes soot fouling the spark plugs.

Correction

If this is encountered, use GDS  to  command the  engine speed up to 2000 rpm for 10 minutes and evaluate the concern.

If the misfires stop counting, return the vehicle to the customer.

If the concern is not completely gone, the vehicle may need to be driven to finish cleaning the spark plugs.

If the above does not resolve the concern and the sparkplugs are fouled preform the following.

If a sparkplug needs to be replaced to fully correct the concern, it is recommended to replace all 8 sparkplugs,
