Reports of rear roof bow lock bolts bending or breaking have been received on some early 1968 Corvette Convertibles. When one of these bolts fail, air and water leakage into the rear of the passenger compartment can occur.

In production, new larger diameter bolts and heavier lock bolt housings are now being used on convertible units equipped with either the folding top or the auxiliary top (RPO C07). both units use the same bolt but have different housings.

If this condition is encountered in Service, the new larger bolts, Part No. 3940635, should be installed. the lock housings will have to be re-drilled and tapped to accept a 3/8"-16 thread.
