Investigation of refrigerant leaks in the area of the superheat switch located in the rear head of the compressor should include inspection of the switch cavity O-ring groove for foreign material.

When replacement of the O-ring seal becomes necessary to repair a refrigerant leak, it is imperative that the switch cavity on the rear head of the compressor be thoroughly cleaned.
