The front speaker removal procedure found on page 15-8 of the 1974 Chevrolet Passenger Car Service Manual has been revised.

The revised procedure is as follows:

Corvette Speaker (Left Side)

Replacement

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Loosen windshield top garnish molding and remove windshield left side and right side garnish moldings.
  3. Remove right side dash pad.
  4. Remove one screw from instrument panel reinforcement and one screw from center console.
  5. Lift up on instrument panel top pad and disconnect speaker connection.
  6. Remove instrument panel.
  7. Remove screws securing speaker to underside of instrument panel pad and then remove speaker.
  8. To reinstall, Reverse Steps 1-7.
    CAUTION: Always attach speaker connection before applying power to radio.
  9. Check speaker operation.

Corvette Speaker (Right Side)

Replacement

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Remove three upper screws and two outer screws securing right dash pad.  Pull dash pad out slightly to expose speaker and speaker connector.
  3. Disconnect speaker connector.
  4. Remove four nuts on underside of instrument panel pad securing speaker and remove speaker.
  5. To reinstall, Reverse Steps 1-4.
    CAUTION: Always attach speaker connector before applying power to radio.
  6. Check speaker operation.
