1991 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles are shipped from respective plants to dealers with a protective, milky, wax-like latex coating on horizontal exterior paint surfaces.

The following information will list the recommended procedures for the removal of this coating using KATS UL7000 Transit Coating Remover which is shipped in each vehicle.

To ensure ease of removal, the coating must be removed from vehicles no later than 4 months after receipt of the vehicle by the dealer.

Coated areas of the vehicle that may need special attention during removal include windows, wiper arms and blades, window moldings, horizontal areas of bumpers and fascias, door handles and exterior emblems or moldings.

Material required: One pint container of remover per vehicle.

Equipment required: Bucket, soft washmitt, SAFETY GLASSES, RUBBER BOOTS AND GLOVES, water supply and hose.

MIXING: Standard remover mixture at 1 to 4 parts water; for heavier applications, mix 1 to 1 part water. Either warm or cold water is acceptable, but WARM water is recommended. DO NOT USE OVER DILUTED SOLUTION

1. Perform the removal operation in a well ventilated area.

2. Pre rinse vehicle to remove accumulated debris and prevent scratching prior to application of transit coating remover.

3. Liberally apply solution with a soft washmitt and agitate in a circular motion as normally washing a vehicle.

- Do one section at a time (roof, windshield, back window, hood, etc.)

- Allow 1 - 2 minutes of solution on panels while maintaining a wet sudsy lather.

- Keep the panel wet with remover and maintain washing action until time to rinse.

- DO NOT ALLOW THE REMOVER SOLUTION TO DRY ON THE PANEL.

- DO NOT USE A SPONGE FOR WASHING, AS THE SUDS GENERATED WILL NOT ALLOW EFFECTIVE CLEANING.

- DO NOT APPLY REMOVER WITH SPRAY BOTTLES, AS INSUFFICIENT WETTING OF THE PANELS MAY OCCUR, AND SPRAY MIST MAY BE IRRITATING.

4. Thoroughly rinse each panel after washing to remove coating and remover.

5. Use a towel or chamois and wipe the vehicle dry to prevent water spots.

6. Carefully inspect the vehicle for areas where the coating may have not been removed.

NOTE: SPOT AREAS WHERE COATING HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED MAY BE INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AS PAINT DEFECTS.

7. Spot removal may be achieved by rewashing as recommended above with stronger solution mix, then rinse thoroughly and dry area.

NOTICE: DO NOT ATTEMPT SPOT REMOVAL WITH COMPOUNDS, SOLVENTS OR ANY MATERIAL OTHER THAN REMOVER SPECIFIED AS PAINT DAMAGE COULD OCCUR.
