1992 Corvette: Service Bulletin: Engine Ticking Noise

CONDITION:

Some owners of 1992 Corvettes with the LT1 (VIN P 5.7L V8) engine may comment of an engine ticking noise that may sound like a piston type noise.

CAUSE:

Bolts holding the exhaust manifold heat shield to the exhaust manifold may be backing out causing a slight exhaust leak.

CORRECTION:

Before attempting any repairs, check the torque on the three (3) exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and tighten if necessary. Recommended torque is 8-12 N.m (72-108 lb. in.). If bolt is missing, replace with P/N 11508567.
