1993 - 1996 Corvette: Service Bulletin: Shortened Range With Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) Transmitter

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

Model Year: 1993-96 CHEVROLET CORVETTE
Source: Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin
Bulletin Number: 63-90-09

CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY (PKE) RANGE IS VERY SHORT AT TIMES - SOMETIMES ALMOST ZERO. AT OTHER TIMES, THE RANGE WILL BE NORMAL.

THIS CAN BE CAUSED BY INTERFERENCE GENERATED BY ELECTRONIC DEVICES SUCH AS CELLULAR PHONES AND LAPTOP COMPUTERS, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE’S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

IF THE ABOVE COMMENT IS RECEIVED, BE SURE TO TURN OFF AND UNPLUG ANY PORTABLE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT BEFORE BEGINNING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES ON THE PKE SYSTEM.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
