CONDITION:
CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ABOUT HIGH EFFORT SHIFTING INTO REVERSE GEAR. THEY MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE HIGH SHIFT EFFORT INTO ALL FORWARD GEARS IN COLD AMBIENT TEMPERATURE.
THIS HIGH SHIFT EFFORT CONDITION MAY ONLY OCCUR FOR THE FIRST SEVERAL SHIFTS AFTER A COLD SOAK. THE CONDITION MAY **NOT** EXIST AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN TO A DEALERSHIP, BUT THE CONDITION MAY RECUR AFTER ANOTHER COLD SOAK.
THIS HIGH SHIFT EFFORT CONDITION WILL ONLY APPLY TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE THE FOLLOWING VIN BREAKPOINTS.

CAUSE:
TRANSMISSION LUBRICANT BECOMES TRAPPED IN "SHIFT SHAFT DETENT" PLUNGER (ITEM NUMBER 177 ON PAGE 7B1-2 OF THE 1994 SERVICE MANUAL). THIS TRAPPED OIL IMPAIRS FREE MOVEMENT OF DETENT ASSEMBLY, THEREBY, CAUSING A HIGH SHIFT EFFORT BETWEEN THE GEARS.
CORRECTION:
