The 1999 Corvette features a telescoping steering wheel that is designed to travel approximately 50 mm. To prevent over-travel that could cause damage to the system, "soft stops" are built into the telescoping wheel software.
These "soft stops" may be inadvertently set during the assembly process. If the "soft stops" are set, activating the telescoping wheel switch six times, in the same direction (forward or revers), in rapid succession will clear them.
