Since publication of the 1955-57 spark plug resume on page 7 of the March issue of Service News, higher heat range plugs have been recommended for street use in Corvettes and a new cooler operating plug is released for production and service with the 2 and 2 1/2 Ton Truck models.
Currently AC-46 spark plugs are being factory installed in all Corvettes and the following service recommendations have been released for various types of Corvette operation:
Type of Operation | Use Spark Plug |
City | AC-46 |
Town and Country | AC-44 |
Heavy Duty and High Speed | C 43 COM |
Road Racing | C 42-1 COM |
These same recommendations are carried in the 4th Edition of the Corvette Owner’s Manual which is currently being placed in Corvettes at the assembly plant.
Because of better heat dissipating characteristics, the AC 42-1 COM is now used as standard equipment on 2 and 2 1/2 ton trucks and for service use instead of the AC 42 COM spark plug formerly recommended.
