There will be a change in the operation of the 1997 Corvette automatic transmission after updating the calibration for Emission Campaign 97040. After reflashing the PCM, the automatic transmission will no longer start in first gear when the transmission selector lever is manually placed in the second gear position. When placing the selector lever in the second gear position, the transmission will now start and remain in second gear. This change was made to facilitate easier starts on slippery surfaces and to provide a transmission that will stay in second gear during various driving situations.
