If replacement of the front accumulator piston, front servo piston or related parts is required on a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 transmission, proper identification of the parts is necessary.

Front accumulator and servo parts are new for 1971 and the individual parts are not interchangeable with past model parts.  Incorrect combinations of the early design parts (1965 - 1970) and later design parts could result in loss of front band apply and/or band failure, or direct clutch failure.

Identification and comparison of the 1965-1970 front accumulator and servo parts versus 1971 parts are illustrated in Figure 8 and as follows:
