In 2007, Chevrolet hired Pratt & Miller to build a special street-legal version of the C6.R Corvette which was extremely competitive in the GT1 class of the American Le Mans Race Series. As a result, the Corvette C6RS was born.
Only seven C6RS Corvettes were built in order to commemorate the seven American Le Mans Series GT1 manufacturers championships won by the factory-backed Corvette race team and they were the only factory authorized post-factory build of the C6 Corvette.
To build one of these rare super cars, Pratt & Miller took a stock Z06 Corvette and replaced the body panels with specially hand crafted carbon fiber body panels that were made from the same mold as the GT1 C6.R race car. The result: a 1.6-inch wider stance and 1/2 inch lower ride height.
The stock suspension was replaced by a special suspension which utilizes a lift system which can raise the front of the car to go over steep inclines or speed bumps, or lower the car for better handling and a more aggressive stance. Sound familiar? The 2020 C8 Corvette also incorporates a special front-end lift system as an option.
The interior of the C6RS did not go unnoticed either. A special leather and alcantara wrapped interior hand-stitched by John Caravaggio was installed with a look and feel that was nothing short of sumptuous.
John Caravaggio is the owner of Caravaggio Corvettes and is well known for providing some of the most luxurious aftermarket interiors ever created for Corvettes.
This particular example up for sale by GT Motor Cars of Connecticut is even more special. The Z06’s stock 7.0 L 505 HP LS7 small-block V8 engine was replaced by a special naturally aspirated Katech 8.2L small-block V8 engine putting out a healthy 600 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque.
Jay Leno is the proud owner of the very first Corvette C6RS built and we believe this particular example is #03 which took nearly 18 months to build and over $330,000. You could be the next owner of this extraordinarily rare Corvette! Head on over to GT Motor Cars for even more details and photos.
