Airborne Highway Sign Impales Corvette

Corvette impaled by street sign during multi-vehicle crash on I-95; no serious injuries

On December 31st, a multi-vehicle car crash sent a street sign flying through the air on Interstate 95 in Hallandale, Florida impaling the back-end of a C7 Corvette.

The driver of the Corvette was heading northbound on I-95 at approximately 3:30 PM when the sign came flying through the air and piercing the rear hatch of the Corvette.  The driver was extremely shaken, but luckily uninjured.

“I didn’t even see it. It just happened really fast,” he said.

The street sign warning drivers to merge ahead, was already laying on the side of the highway when another car drove over it sending it flying through the air.

Investigators are unsure how the street sign originally came to lie on the side of the highway.
