2020 Model Year Corvette Orders with LPO Accessory Premium Outdoor Car Cover in Black with Stingray Logo and Access Panels (RNX) & Premium Outdoor Car Cover in Black with Crossed Flags Logo and Corvette Silhouette (RWJ) d
A month ago, we posted that GM would remove the high wing spoiler option from remaining 2020 Corvette orders due to supplier issues.
Now according to our sources, GM has told dealers that remaining 2020 Corvette orders that were placed with the premium outdoor car cover options ($460 cost) will not be receiving those covers due to a quality issue with the covers.
“Due to a potential quality issue, it was necessary to remove the Premium Outdoor Car Cover in Black with Stingray Logo and Access Panels (RNX) or Premium Outdoor Car Cover in Black with Crossed Flags Logo and Corvette Silhouette (RWJ) option from your order(s). At this point in time, we anticipate this accessory will remain restricted from LPO/ACO ordering for the remainder of the 2020MY. Further Dealer and customer communications will be forthcoming once this has been resolved.”
The communication to dealers continues:
“As a goodwill gesture all customers impacted by the removal of (RNX) or (RWJ) will receive a communication from Chevrolet after they take delivery of their vehicle. Within the communication they’ll receive a private coupon code for 25% below MSRP* on all Chevrolet accessories purchased online with a maximum value of up to $500 below MSRP*. This goodwill offer is only valid for purchases online via www.Chevy.com/accessories .
-
Percentage offer based on total MSRP of online Chevrolet accessories order excluding tax, shipping and installation. Offer may not be combined with any other offers or discounts. Subject to availability. Offer valid 7/1/2020 – 7/31/2021.”
While it’s unclear at this time what that quality issue is, it appears that GM is doing the same thing for customers who ordered these options as they did for the customers who ordered the high wing spoiler option in offering a 25% private coupon offer good toward official Chevrolet accessories.
While some folks may becoming irritated with GM removing options from their orders, at least they’re being careful to release good quality products to customers.
We’ll have more information on this issue as it becomes available to us.
