Another LPO Gets the Axe – This Time for the 2021 Corvette

VST Illuminated Sill Plate

First it was a high wing spoiler, then a car cover that got axed from 2020 Corvette orders, and now it seems the 2021 Corvette isn’t immune either.

A short time ago, Chevy dealers were notified by GM that due to a supply issue, it was necessary to remove the Accessory Illuminated Sill Plate (RPO VST) from their 2021 Corvette orders.  The communication goes on to state that they anticipate this option will remain restricted from LPO ordering for the remainder of the 2021 Corvette production run.

A list of affected orders placed by the respective Chevy dealer was provided by GM so that customers can be notified of the change to their order.

Details of the supply issue were not included in the notification, but given all of the supply chain issues we saw during the 2020 Corvette model run, we wouldn’t be surprised if COVID-19 was the culprit yet again.

Given that we’ve seen a fair number of C8 owners wanting to de-badge the stingray emblems from their Corvettes, we can’t imagine illuminated stingray logo sill plates would be in high demand.

Hopefully, this is the only supply issue that will affect the 2021 model run.
