Earlier today at the National Corvette Museum’s 2021 Bash, Chevrolet unveiled three new colors for the 2022 Corvette
Earlier today, the National Corvette Museum kicked off their annual Bash event with the unveiling of three new colors for the 2022 Corvette model year.
Kai Spande, the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant Manager held a seminar this afternoon to share what’s been going on at the assembly plant as well as announcing the three new colors.
As per Chevrolet:
At the National Corvette Museum’s 2021 Bash, representatives from Bowling Green Assembly announced that the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will feature three new colors for model year 2022:
- Hypersonic Gray Metallic (replaces Shadow Gray Metallic)
- Amplify Orange Tintcoat (replaces Sebring Orange Metallic)
- Caffeine Metallic (replaces Zeus Bronze Metallic)
Corvette continues to have strong demand. Most of the vehicles we’ve built have been sold orders personalized by their owners, so fresh colors help Corvette buyers showcase their individuality on road.

Last week, I reported that Chevrolet had officially killed off Sebring Orange Metallic and Zeus Bronze Metallic and speculated that in my opinion, it would be unlikely that Chevrolet would release another brown metallic color on the Corvette given the low popularity of Zeus Bronze. I was obviously wrong!
Contrary to many people, I was a big fan of Zeus Bronze. When it was first announced, I admittedly wasn’t thrilled about it. However, when I saw it for the first time, I was blown away. The color was amazing; especially when the sun hit it just right. I had expected it to be more popular than it was, but it was definitely not popular.
The images of the new colors that we have here were provided by Chevrolet. Unfortunately, they’re basically an artist’s representation and not a great indicator of what the true colors will look like to the naked eye.
Regardless, it looks like Caffeine Metallic is going to be bolder brown color than the outgoing Zeus Bronze. Based upon the only picture provided by Chevrolet at this time – I’m definitely not a fan, but I’ll hold final judgement until I can see it first hand.
As for Amplify Orange Metallic – based upon the photos we have, it looks similar to the outgoing Sebring Orange Metallic but more vivid. Click on the photos below showing body panels painted in Amplify Orange Metallic and Caffeine Metallic:
The last new color announced – Hypersonic Gray Metallic is definitely the lightest gray color we’ve seen on a Corvette in quite some time. Based upon the photos we have here, it looks like just another silver color, but again, I have a feeling it’s going to be much better in person when we can see an entire Corvette painted with it.
While the new colors may not be everyone’s cup of coffee tea, I think that once we actually see them gracing a 2022 Corvette in the flesh, our perception may be different. Either way, let us know what you think of them!
