In a notification to Chevrolet Dealers last night, GM announced that 2020 Corvette production will be extended through December.
As a result, the 3 month allocation numbers for 2021 Corvette orders will not be made available to dealers today.
In the notice to dealers, GM states that they still intend on building out all 2020 Corvette orders that are still sitting at status code 3000. That’s good news for customers who have been patiently waiting to see if they’ll still be getting their 2020 Corvette.
2020 Corvette Orders Beyond Status 3000
According to the announcement, GM is targeting mid-November to have a firm Target Production Week (TPW) date for all 2020 Corvette orders remaining in the system.
Orders that are sitting at status code 3400 (Broadcast) are the ones with the most accurate and firm TPW dates.
Some orders with a a 3300 status code have been issued TPW dates but those dates can still be adjusted in accordance to the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant’s production ramp-up. These orders will likely be the next to receive firm TPW dates.
Originally, GM announced that 2020 Corvette production would come to an end at the beginning of November and 2021 Corvette production would commence shortly after. Earlier last month, we announced that 2020 and 2021 Corvette production would run in tandem through the month of November. Apparently, this will no longer be the case.
Last month, the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant brought on the second shift thus increasing 2020 Corvette production to approximately 200 units per day. Even with the second shift up and running now, the General may not have been able to meet the November cut-off they originally planned.
For customers that have been worried about their 2020 Corvette order still sitting at 3000, hopefully, this latest news will give them some peace of mind.
