Get your mouse ready – the 2022 Corvette visualizer is now live and you can build your own 2022 Corvette
Late last night the online 2022 Corvette visualizer went live last night just a little ahead of the June 9th release date that was announced by the manufacturer a couple weeks ago.
While it isn’t the complete build and price tool that we were hoping for, the online visualizer can give you an idea of what a 2022 Corvette coupe or convertible will look like with the new Amplify Orange, Caffeine Metallic and Hypersonic Gray colors that are new for the 2022 model year.
While the online colors aren’t a good representation of what the colors will truly look like in person, it still gives you an idea of what a coupe or convertible will look like with the new colors in combination with the interior and wheel choices that will be available.
Also new for the 2022 model year are two special editions that we knew would eventually be coming – the IMSA GTLM Championship C8R Edition in Hypersonic Gray and the IMSA GTLM Championship C8R Edition in Accelerate Yellow.
According to the visualizer, the C8.R Special Edition will come with visible carbon-fiber mirrors, carbon flash high-wing spoiler, yellow brake calipers, Sky Cool Gray/Strike Yellow and black rocker panels.
However, patience is definitely required with this new visualizer tool. As we ran through it over the course of an hour, the functionality is clunky at best and seems to time out quickly and redirect to the 2021 Corvette configurator if you’re not clicking through the different options fast enough.
While it’s not the full build and pricing tool customers need, the 2022 Corvette configurator is expected to go live on September 6th which is the same day that 2022 Corvette production was expected to begin. Whether or not release of the configurator gets pushed back along with the start of 2022 Corvette production, remains to be seen. We’re hoping that the opposite will occur.
You would expect that an online build and price tool would go live well before the start of production so that customers have time to configure their orders with pricing before production begins. Fingers crossed!
2022 Corvette Order Books Are Now Open in Australia
According to our friends across the pond, General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has announced that the order books are now open for the 2022 Corvette and Australian Chevy dealers can now start accepting orders for the new model year.
- Corvette 2LT Coupe – $144,990
- Corvette 2LT Convertible – $159,990
- Corvette 3LT Coupe – $160,500
- Corvette 3LT Convertible – $175,500
- Corvette Carbon Edition coupe – $189,990 (new)
From what we can tell, it doesn’t sound like the Carbon Edition coupe will offer anything unique that the U.S. version won’t. You can configure a 2022 Corvette with the exact same options depending on what’s meant by “new” trident-style wheels.
For now, get your mouse and index fingers ready and go explore the new 2022 Corvette visualizer!
