BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The 33rd annual National Corvette homecoming kicked off tonight with live music, food, and a crowd of people who all share a similar interest.
“This is our baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet, meet-and-greet starting off tonight,” Event coordinator, Joe Pruitt, said.
The homecoming began when the Corvette assembly plant came to Bowling Green in 1981. Rip Vanwinkle says there are very few years that he has missed.
“I’ve been coming to this homecoming for over 30 years. I haven’t missed one in over 30 years,” Vanwinkle said.
Vanwinkle also says there are several reasons why he enjoys visitng, but there is one in particular.
“It’s the judging of the show, the cars, and the comradery we have. The judging is tough, it really is, but it’s fun and I enjoy it.”
