West Miami-Dade, Florida – Barbara Garrett was at her daughter’s house celebrating Mother’s Day when she received a phone call from a concerned neighbor asking if she was having her late husband’s 1958 Corvette towed.
“NOOOOOO!” Barbara screamed over the phone nearly deafening her neighbor.
By the time Barbara got home from her neighbor’s house, it was too late. The 1958 Corvette that was supposed to go to her grandson, was long gone, but not before it was all caught on a neighbor’s video surveillance system.
The video footage shows a large flatbed truck driving toward the house, and shortly after, driving away with the 1958 Corvette on the back.
Barbara said her late husband had bought the Corvette in his early twenties and had been in the family for nearly 60 years.
The family was just starting to fix up the classic Corvette and although, it may have been valuable from a dollar perspective, the sentimental value of the car to the family was invaluable.
If anyone has any information on the theft of this 1958 Corvette, we encourage you to call the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
