The second 1953 Corvette produced was issued GM Proving Ground vehicle number 3951 and was labeled as a Demonstration Vehicle. GM / Chevrolet records indicated that it was used by the Fisher Body Group in November 1953 and was scheduled to be converted into a 1955 V-8 Corvette model.

This Corvette was also assigned to Chevrolet Engineering. On March 17, 1954, Build Work Order #19049 instructed the Experimental Shop and Garage and Motor to "incorporate the V-8 Engine and rebuild Car 3951 per the 1955 design proposal".
