Tony sold me the car Oct. 15, 2013 with 15,949 km (9910 miles) on the odometer. Tony purchased the car from an owner in Ontario with John Caravaggio Corvettes in Concord, Ontario acting as the sellers agent. The car was advertised on Corvetteforum.com by John on June 22, 2011 with 1735 miles (2792 km) on the odometer for $89,000 CDN.
The Modification History at that time:
The car was advertised by John to have a Lingenfelter Stage 3 kit valued at $12,895 (assuming $CDN) with the following details:
- Competition Cams valve springs, LS9 retainers and locks
- Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft by Competition Cams
- GM head gaskets & head studs
-160 degree thermostat
- Lingenfelter cast aluminum supercharger front cover assembly
- 2.60 inch (Upgraded to 2.3 ") diameter steel supercharger 10 bolt drive pulley - powder coated black - 11 rib
- 100 mm aluminum double bearing idler assembly
- Lingenfelter LS9 solid supercharger isolator coupling
- Caravaggio carbon fibre ZR1 air intake system
- Increased boost level 12 - 13 psi (15+ w/2.3" pully)
- Professional installation, camshaft degreeing, testing & ECU calibration
The car was being sold with the stock wheels only
These were the modifications that Tony advertised when I purchased from him on Oct 15, 2013. I had the car inspected by a GM dealer prior to the purchase with no issues found. I stored the car over the winter until May, 2014. That is when I found the car had an engine problem that sounded like a loud lifter. I hired a qualified mechanic to investigate. He found severely worn valve guides on one cylinder and other guides with premature wear. The reason: The cylinder heads were NOT upgraded with the correct valve springs for the Lingenfelter GT9 cam. The GT9 cam was also worn. Other mistakes included the incorrect size damper and idler to match the upgraded 2.3" supercharger pulley. I contacted John Caravaggio to ask questions about the modifications, but when I told him about the problems he stopped responding.
Needless to say I had the correct Lingenfelter dual spring ported and polished heads, new GT9 cam, correct damper and idler pulley installed. I also had a set of American Racing headers installed. The car was tuned at Davenport Motorsports producing rear wheel 659 hp and 652 lbft of torque. The car has performed flawlessly for 6 years and has 20,486 miles (32,970 km) on the odometer.
