Model Year Highlights

  • The highlight for this model year is the replacement of the L83 engine and crossfire fuel injection setup with the new L98 engine sporting tuned port fuel injection by Bosch.  Power output increased from 205 hp to 230 hp and from 290 lb-ft of torque to 330 lb-ft.
  • The January 1985 edition of Car and Driver magazine declared the Corvette to be the fastest American made production car with a top speed of 150 mph.
  • The digital instrument cluster was revised with better graphics, less color and larger digits.
  • Because of numerous criticisms of the 1984 Corvette's ride harshness, spring rates for 1985 were softened by 26% in front and 25% in the rear.

Madonna takes the stage and Bill Cosby makes the news as tuned port fuel injection is added to the Corvette's 5.7 liter V8 engine sporting 230 horsepower.  The increased horsepower is up 19 percent over the previous 1984 Crossfire Injected engine.
